The two twin goals of FreeCalypso GSM MS project are to recreate TI Calypso TCS211 platform in its full glory and to produce a new end user GSM handset. Both of these goals call for our desired, but not yet built FC Venus board.
This GSM MS project is part of our greater Themyscira Wireless family.
Our FreeCalypso family of projects currently offers the following physical hardware products for GSM/2G:
Our mature product is our FCDEV3B modem board.
FreeCalypso Tango is our core module that encapsulates our beloved Calypso chipset and the necessary RF components.
Caramel2 is another development board based around Tango; it is a lower-cost alternative to our mature FCDEV3B.
DUART28 is our official adapter for connecting from an ordinary PC or laptop or other USB host to the dual UART interface on our Calypso development boards.
We have our own brand of programmable SIM cards which we use for our Themyscira Wireless deployment and for GSM ME development and testing.
We have also developed a lot of software over the years, as detailed on the linked page.

Between 2015-April and 2026-March our project had a traditional mailing list. That ML had to be shut down later in 2026-Q2 when all FreeCalypso hosting infrastructure moved to a new server with a very different configuration — but the full archive is preserved.
