Flashing

Hello again anonymous OM user,

I'm actually now separated from my OM phone by several thousand miles and no longer use a cell phone at all. I did however use the OM phone as my main phone for 3 solid months as recently as a year ago.

>From this experience I believe I learnt 2 things

1. the latest freecalypso software works flawlessly as does the flashing routine

2. the only linux software still available that is remotely usable is QtMoko and the last release is probably the best. Even so it is not without quirks and bugs and was prone to crashing, at least on my hardware. To alleviate such problems I used to reboot it every evening, but it still played up on occasions.

For reasons I won't go into here, I may never carry a cellphone around with me again, but I would agree with what Mychaela says about over complexity and would possible even regain some interest if someone found a way to use the OM phone as just a phone,

IMO if you want or need all the other stuff such as GPS etc, you'd be better off looking at one of the freer (if there is such a thing) android alternatives.
